I’m Leah Skousen, a Certified Block Therapy™ Instructor. In a search for a holistic solution to scoliosis, I stumbled upon a therapy that provided a doorway not only out of my back pain, but into so much more. Block Therapy is a combination exercise, meditation, and therapy that releases compression at the cellular level, combining the power of the breath and the fascia-melting capabilities of our simple yet beautifully crafted tool.
How does Block Therapy work?
The Tool
Block Therapy’s custom tool, the Block Buddy, is made of elm and specially designed to move gently but deeply into the fascia. Simply laying on the block in different positions applies the pressure that releases restrictions and creates space for optimal flow to cells.
Find where your cells are stuck
With Block Therapy, we teach that pain is the language of our cells calling out for our attention. You’ll learn how to follow your “path of pain” to find the adhesions holding you out of alignment. Then, accessing your diaphragmatic breath heats the area from the inside out, melting those adhesions and feeding the cells that have been blocked from life for so long.
Maintain Space
Gravity works constantly on us, and if we are not careful, we collapse into our most compressed areas. Understanding how to use your body properly on a moment-to-moment basis to strengthen the correct foundation is crucial to maintaining proper cellular alignment. We learn how to implement healthful posture and good habits will ensure the changes we make stay with us!

We all live in a toxic, stress-packed world. Regardless of where your pain point is, the fascia is everywhere. When it is out of alignment, our cells suffer. When it is open and fluid, the whole system can “breathe,” relaxing the nerves and muscles and allowing greater blood and oxygen flow to cells. A regular practice turns on the body’s own mechanisms for healing and detoxifying the cells, getting us out of pain in the process!
Personally, I started my journey with back pain at age 14 from scoliosis. My pain point was back pain, sciatica, and the like. As I took my health into my own hands with this practice, these pains became a non-issue. With regular practice I can sit up straight for hours, without pain or even feeling the need to slouch!
